Municipal Commissioner Rao wants weekly progress report

PUNE: Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has instructed the water supply department to submit a weekly progress report of Bhama-Askhed water supply project. On Monday, Rao visited the dam, where the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has resumed the construction of jackwell after the interruption of almost three months. 

The State government has fixed Rs 15 lakh per hectare land compensation to project affected people.The total cost of compensation amount is around Rs 120 crore. Out of that, the PMC has allotted Rs 45 crore to Pune district administration the compensation to be paid to Bhama-Askhed project affected people. 

On Monday, Rao along with Additional Municipal Commissioner Bipin Sharma, water supply department head V G Kulkarni and Superintendent Engineer of water supply department Pravin Gedam visited the dam work site. 

According to water supply officials, the commissioner has given instruction to submit a weekly progress report. He has also given instruction to contractor to speed up the work to complete it within set deadlines. 

The Pune civic body has completed about 80 per cent work pertaining to the project so far.
