Rainfall in four dams supplying water to city

PUNE: While the water level in four dams supplying water to Pune city has reached an alarming level, the rainfall on Monday has revived hopes and officials of irrigation department are expecting the water level to rise. 

This year, monsoon in Pune has been delayed compared to the data of last 18 years. As per the irrigation department, the water level in four dams including Panshet, Khadakwasla, Temghar and Varasgaon as on June 24, has reached 2.47 TM, compared to 2.84 TMC last year.

Officials said there was 37 mm rainfall in catchment area of Khadakwasla dam and 8 mm in Temghar dam. This year, Panshet dam has received 131 mm rainfall and Varasgaon has recieved 127 mm. Officials said that Khadakwasla dam has recieved 56 mm rainfall.
