Meanwhile, it’s ‘silent’ support for Binoy Kodiyeri

Binoy Kodiyeri
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Implying that the alleged rape and cheating charges against Binoy Kodiyeri, son of the party’s state secretary, was a ‘personal’ matter, the two-day CPM state committee meeting that ended on Monday maintained a studied silence on the issue and didn’t discuss it at all.
However, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan addressed a press conference where he reiterated that he had never intervened in the issue nor had he or his family members sought to negotiate a deal with the Mumbai woman who filed a case against his son. In the same breath, Kodiyeri said the case itself was filed because his son didn’t have the hush money she demanded. “If he had money this issue would never have arisen. The woman sought Rs 5 crore for settlement,’’ he said.
On reports his wife had met the woman, the CPM leader said, “As a mother she [his wife] had gone to Mumbai to know about the facts. Advocate Sreejith is known to me and he spoke to me about this’’. Sreejith, Kodiyeri said, had contacted Binoy’s mother when the woman approached him. It was not a discussion for a settlement or any kind of negotiation.
Hearing on bail plea adjourned
The Dindoshi Sessions Court on Monday adjourned the hearing on the anticipatory bail plea filed by Binoy Balakrishnan to June 27 as the judge was unwell on the day. Meanwhile, police said it had also come to light that Binoy had threatened the 33-year-old Mumbai woman with dire consequences if she lodged a police complaint.

Kodiyeri said his son Binoy was into the construction business in Dubai and his business was doing well.
But in between, there was some crisis and he had to take a loan to overcome the crisis. That had resulted in the first controversy which was later ‘settled’
