KCR effigy flames burn 3 Telangana BJP workers

BJP workers burn an effigy of CM KCR in Warangal on Monday
WARANGAL: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) urban district president and two other leaders sustained burns while setting an effigy of the chief minister on fire on Monday. The incident took place in Hanamkonda town when party workers were protesting the rape and murder of a nine-month-old girl recently.
The party’s urban district president R Padma received minor burn injuries while senior leader B Srinivas received 40 per cent burns. Another worker, Saroja, too sustained burns.
Padma had led a procession to Ambedkar Junction where party workers attempted to burn the effigy of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. While chanting slogans, party workers dragged the effigy to the centre of the road and poured petrol on it. Once the effigy was set on fire, the flames soon spread, injuring Padma and the two others.

Shocked workers rushed the injured to a private hospital. Doctors said Srinivas’s condition was critical while Padma was treated as an outpatient.
During the protest, a heated discussion took place between the police and party workers. Police arrested some of the workers and tried taking them away. However, party leaders obstructed the police van and damaged windowpanes.
