NAGPUR: With the arrival of 20 mini-buses,
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) transport department is launching six 21-seater buses on narrow and congested roads of the city from Tuesday.

Krishna Khopde will launch the service from
Satranjipura square for Pardi. Three buses will be introduced between
Gandhibagh, Mahal and
Sitabuldi, said transport committee chairman Jitendra Kukde.
Kukde admitted that 20 mini-buses had arrived and 25 more will join the fleet in the coming days. “All buses will start operation from next month,” he said. He said NMC had already identified 18 routes to run the mini-buses including Sitabuldi to Kamptee via Mominpura, Pipla Fata to Gandhibagh, Sitabuldi to New Narsala, Sitabuldi to Shanti Nagar via Medical College, Sitabuldi to Shesh Nagar and Sitabuldi to Wanjari Layout.
Kukde said NMC will also save money by operating mini buses as it will pay Rs 35 per km to the operator against Rs 49 per km for standard buses.
and Rs45 for midi buses. These buses are estimated to travel 8,581km daily by making 747 trips. Currently, NMC is operating 327 buses on over 60 routes.
