The 30-year-old accused in the Narela murder case was earlier arrested in a rape case in 2011, the police said.
He was in jail for over a year before he was acquitted, an officer said.
The 2011 rape victim’s mother said he was in a relationship with her daughter and “raped her” on the pretext of marriage.
Another neighbour alleged that a few months ago, the accused tried to lure her minor daughter to the fields but she managed to run away. He was intoxicated at that time, the neighbour said, adding, “This man committed such crimes as he was let off the last time.”
The accused’s father said he has not been informed of any arrest. “My son’s employer had told the police that he was in the factory at the time of the incident. If my son is at fault, then the police should take action. But, they should tell us about the evidence they have against him,” he said. DCP (Outer North) Gaurav Sharma said they have “strong evidence” in the case.
