Student leaders stage protest at AU

ALLAHABAD: With the Academic Council of Allahabad University recommending the issue of replacing AU student union with student council, the varsity campus has started witnessing large scale protest by the student leaders.
Joining the protest at the former president and office bearers of the AUSU who term this action as the conspiracy to root out the rich legacy of an institution who had played a crucial role not only during freedom struggle but even after that.
Large number of student leaders, led by vice president of the AUSU, Abhishek Yadav arrived at the office of the dean student welfare and staged their protest. "This is a conspiracy of the Vice Chancellor Prof Ratan Lal Hangloo to seek an easy escape from all the charges leveled against him, he wants that there should not be any student union on the campus because it was the union which has raised voice against the irregularities committed by him", said Yadav.
Raising her voice against the decision, former president of AUSU, Richa Singh said, "Student Union at AU had been a platform where student like me, who belong to non-political background, can come into the mainstream politics, if he (VC) is so against the student union and students getting indulged into politics, than there should be no government in the country".
Today when the president of UP bar council was murdered in broad daylight, did judiciary said that there would be no union or elections, rather steps were taken so that such incident do not take place in future, so should the VC do. "Replacing the student union is just to hide his failure and wrong doings", she added.
