Watch parties set in Fall River for Democratic debates

The Democratic City Committee of Fall River, City Councilor and Democratic State Committee member Steven Camara, Our Revolution Greater Fall River and Voter Choice for Massachusetts SouthCoast Chapter will cohost debate watch parties at Barrett's Alehouse June 26 and 27.

The Red, White and Blue Watch Party and Straw Poll is set for 9 p.m. both nights at the 4171 North Main St. restaurant. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Cory Booker, Beto O'Rourke, Sen. Amy Klobuchar and six others are scheduled to debate the first night as an early step in their bids to secure the Democratic nomination for president. Sen. Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris and six others are scheduled to debate the second night.

"Fall River and SouthCoast voters and their families are invited to join together for a fun evening as the presidential campaign kicks off in the summer of 2019," Camara said in a news release.

Admission is free. Barrett's will set up a an area with big-screen televisions and surround sound for the events.

At the end of each night's debate, participants will cast their ballots in a straw poll tallied by Voter Choice Massachusetts, with a special vote set for the top three choices.
