Coimbatore: Police on Tuesday approached the principal district judge (PDJ) court,
seeking custody of three members of the IS module,
which was busted in the city, for eight days. The petition is likely to come up for hearing on Wednesday.
The trio - A Mohammed Hussain, 27 of Ukkadam, A Shajahan, 27 of Anbu Nagar at Ukkadam and Y Sheik Shafiullah, 35 of Karumbukkadai – were arrested on June 15 under Sections 18, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and lodged at the Coimbatore Central Prison under judicial custody, which would end on June 28.
The case investigation officer and assistant commissioner of police (law & order -south sub-division), Cedric Manuel, filed a petition before the PDJ court on Tuesday morning, seeking the trio’s custody for eight days. The three are likely to be produced before the court on Wednesday for the hearing.
