ALLAHABAD: Large number of aspirants, preparing for getting a job in UP
Power Corporation, staged protest at the district collectorate on Tuesday. The agitators were protesting against the proposal for privatization of UP power corporation.
As per their call, large number of aspirants, preparing for
ITI, BTech and other professional courses, which would make them eligible for seeking a job in the state power corporation, arrived at the district collectorate.
In the morning hours, their numbers were only around hundred but by noon, their numbers swelled. Witnessing their growing numbers, district administration too deployed large number of security personnel.
The agitated aspirants wanted to meet the district magistrate and hand over a memorandum to him. Although an ACM ranked official did meet them and tried to persuade them but they were adamant to meet the DM.
Later, when some of the agitators started abusing the administration, the police chased away the protestors by beating the lathi on ground. After mild use of force, there was a brief chaos on the road but things were under control.
“A group of aspirants had arrived at the collectorate to show their resentment, they met ACM (first) Vivek Chaturvedi and handed over a memorandum to him”, said ADM City,
