CCTV footage shows couple entering, exiting building

Three persons have been picked for questioning in connection with the murders in a flat in south Delhi’s Vasant Vihar, the police said on Monday.

On Sunday morning, the bodies of Vishnu Mathur (78), his wife Shashi (75) and their caretaker Khushboo (22) were found in their two-bedroom flat on the first floor of Vasant Apartments.

An officer said while scanning call records of the victims, they identified three persons whose activities were suspicious on the day of the murder.

In a CCTV footage obtained from near the spot, a couple was seen entering the building at 11.30 p.m. and leaving at 2.30 a.m. The man, who was in a relationship with Khushboo, was wearing a helmet while the woman covered her face with a dupatta, they said. The duo has been held for questioning, the police said. A neighbour of the victims has also been held.

‘Often visited flat’

“One suspect was found frequently talking to Khusboo and also visited the flat. Khushboo had introduced him to the elderly couple as her brother but they were in a relationship for the past one year,” said an officer.

He added that four mobiles, which belonged to the victims, were missing from the flat.

“All mobiles phones were switched off at 1.30 a.m. We have found a glass half filled with liquor and two cups of tea, which makes the police suspect that there was more than one murderer,” the officer said.

The couple has deleted chats from the man’s mobile phone. The police said they are waiting for other technical reports.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Devender Arya said the police have questioned over 30 people so far.
