Hubballi: Woman dies of burn injuries

HUBBALLI: A woman, who sustained severe burn injuries after her saree caught fire while performing a religious ritual at Vishwanath temple, breathed her last on Monday night at a private hospital.
The accident happened on June 17 and the unusual incident was captured on the CCTV located at the temple. The middle-aged woman, a resident of Adarsha Nagar, came to perform pooja on the Vata Purnima day at Vishwanath temple in Vishweshwar Nagar.

The victim was returning back to her home after worshipping a Banyan tree located in the temple premises when her saree suddenly caught fire. In the first attempt, the woman tries to douse the fire with her hands but as the blaze spreads quickly, a man, who was present at the spot, tries to help her. The woman in order to save herself ran inside the Vishwanath temple to remove the saree.
The injured lady was immediately shifted to the KIMS Hospital’s burns unit from where she was shifted to a private hospital.
