BJP-Sena wins Butibori Municipal Council election

NAGPUR: The alliance of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena swept the Butibori Municipal Council election, winning 16 out of 18 seats. Rajesh Gautam of BJP won the chairman post by 3,861 votes in a direct contest, beating Ramnarayan Shriwas of National Congress Party (NCP).
This was the first election of the council after its formation. The results were declared on Monday morning.

BJP and Shiv Sena had contested the election in alliance, while Congress and NCP had no alliance. BJP won 12 seats, while Sena won four and NCP, two. The names of successful candidates ward wise are: Ward No 1 - Sandhya Ambatkar and Vinod Lohkare (both BJP), Ward No 2 - Rekha Chatap and Udaysinh Chavhan (both BJP), Ward No 3 - Sanketsinh Dixit and Pushpa Kale (both NCP), Ward No 4 - Vidya Dudhe and Sarfaraz Sheikh (both Sena), Ward No 5 - Archana Nagrale and Anees Bawla (both BJP), Ward No 6 - Arvind Jaiswal and Sunita Jeurkar (both BJP), Ward No 7 - Mandar Wankhede and Rupali Tekade (both BJP), Ward No 8 - Nanda Sonawane (Sena) and Avinash Gurjar (BJP) and Ward No 9 - Manoj Doke (Sena) and Vina Thakre (BJP).
The victory is a feather in the cap of guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, BJP district president Rajiv Poddar and Hingna BJP Member of Legislative Aseembly (MLA) Sameer Meghe.
