It is unclear who splashed out the massive sum on the Wunulla Road pad, but realestate.com.au reports one buyer offered $22.5million but saw it turned down.

The detached home's views of the city's eastern harbour also has an open-plan design connecting the dining rooms to a family-sized central kitchen.

Estate agents Ray White Double Bay made the sale, and proudly boast on their website that the bay-front location is a 'world-class architectural masterpiece'.

'This family home is made for resort style living, boating enthusiasts and low maintenance indoor/outdoor entertaining all year round,' the listing reads.

As well as having its own boat shed and ramp jutting out into the picturesque Rose Bay, the property also has a jetty for whenever the owner wants to take a trip out into the iconic harbour.

The sale could give a noticeable boost to Sydney's high-end property market, which is in the midst of a slump.

Last year, all of the top 20 sales in the city were in the $20million-or-above range, but this year there are only five to have brought in that amount on the list domain.com.au reports.

Mr Enthoven, who is also the CEO of the Hollard Group of insurance companies, has a long business history in Australia after moving to the New South Wales capital in 1999.

He then established Holland Insurance of Australia and was appointed as the director of the Insurance Council of Australia in 2013.

The casual dining mogul, who also owns Spier Wine Farm, had a net worth estimated to be in excess of $US1billion in 2015 according to Bloomberg.
