KCR diverting real issues: Jeevan Reddy

more-in

Congress MLC T. Jeevan Reddy has alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to divert people’s attention from the real issues of employment and his failed promises by bringing up the construction of new buildings for Assembly and Secretariat.

At a press conference here, Mr. Reddy said Samata block, “D” block and “H” block of the Secretariat were constructed to function for 100 years at least but Mr. Rao is hell bent on demolishing them only to create a name for himself on the buildings. This cannot be accepted. He is not a king but a leader elected by people democratically, Mr. Reddy said.

He said that he had already filed a case against Secretariat demolition in the High Court and the Advocate General had informed the court that there were demolition plans. “If the government goes ahead with its plan, it is violation of court orders,” he said.

Similarly, traffic woes would only increase if the Assembly comes up at Irrum Manzil and where is the need to construct these when the existing buildings are functioning without any problems. He asked the Chief Minister to focus on his promise of filling up one lakh government jobs. Even after 5 years, only 20,000 vacancies have been filled, he said.

Mr. Kodanda Reddy, All India Kisan Congress vice-president, alleged that the State capital is being turned into a concrete jungle to benefit the real estate dealers. He also alleged that My Home company is constructing buildings without any permissions at several places with the support of the government. The HMDA Master Plan has no residential zones but only places for pubs and restaurants, he alleged, saying this was being done to help the real estate companies. Entire city traffic is thrown out of gear with a few drops of rain and the GHMC has no action plan to deal with monsoon, he said. Instead of creating infrastructure, officials are asking people not to come out in rains, he said.
