Bryan Hughes continued his summer recruitment drive at Wrexham after bringing in Wales under-21 international Mark Harris on a season long loan.

Speaking earlier in the day as Wrexham returned for pre-season training Hughes had revealed his plans to bring in two or three new faces to the club to complete his summer rebuild at the Racecourse.

“I’m looking for another two or three. I’ve identified the personnel I want and if I can get them over the line then brilliant. It’s just to add to what we’ve got, really,” Hughes had stated.

And the manager was true to his word after securing versatile forward Harris from Championship side Cardiff City.

The 20-year-old Swansea-born forward has won 11 caps at U21 level, and scored once, while he has also been capped at U17, U19 and U20 levels.

“He’ll fit in well to our system,” said Hughes. “He can play across front three and he is an exciting talent.

“He’s had two loan spells at League Two level, including a really good loan at Newport County, where Michael Flynn spoke very highly of him.

“I’m really pleased he’s decided to join us and a big thank you to Cardiff for letting him come. I’m looking forward to seeing him in a Wrexham shirt.”

Harris will wear the number 29 shirt next season and is the fourth new face to join the Dragons this summer, following JJ Hooper, Leighton McIntosh and Devonte Redmond in joining the club.

The youngster, who is six-foot tall, spent time on loan at Newport County and Port Vale last season, scoring three times during his stint with the Exiles.

Harris is a product of Cardiff’s academy, signing his first professional contract in 2016 and having earned experience in the Championship with the Bluebirds.
