THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The
Kerala government has reconstituted the
co-ordination committee for the smooth implementation of
Kerala urban service delivery project (
KUSDP).
The committee will have six regular members with additional chief secretary, LSGD, as the chairman. The other members are additional chief secretary, finance department, principal secretary, planning department, project director, KUSDP, secretary (urban), LSGD, and director of urban affairs. The project director of KUSDP will be the convenor of the project.
The committee will monitor the project activities and decision making to facilitate removal of bottlenecks that may arise during the course of project implementation. It will also approve selection of consultants until project completion. Sanction of temporary posts and contractual appointments in the project management unit and project implementation unit will also be the responsibility of co-ordination committee.
The government had earlier approved the second phase of Kerala local government service
delivery project and was renamed as Kerala urban service delivery project. The project will be implemented from 2019 to 2024 with the World Bank share of $300 million along with $130 million of government of Kerala. The objective of the project is to enhance and strengthen the institutional capacity of urban local government system to deliver services and perform government functions in a more inclusive and efficient manner.
