Margao masseur arrested for molesting US national

Margao: A resident of Borda, Margao, was arrested on Monday following an alleged molestation of a US national in a massage parlour in Fatorda.

The massage parlour is now under police scrutiny for allegedly operating illegally.

Fatorda police said that the incident occurred on Saturday when the US national had been to the parlour for a massage due to shoulder problem. The US national had sought a male masseur, who allegedly touched her inappropriately despite her objection to it.

The US national later lodged a police complaint and a case was registered late Sunday night. Subsequently, the accused Zahim Sheikh was arrested Monday morning by the Fatorda police.

The accused was later released, as he was granted conditional bail by judicial magistrate first class, as the offence was bailable.

The police have registered a case against the masseur under various sections of the Indian penal code. Investigations are also in progress over the legality of the

parlour and the owners have been directed to produce relevant documents.

Sources, meanwhile, said that the health department has claimed that the parlour is operating illegally and does not possess the requisite documents and recommended its closure. The police, however, said that investigation is in progress and it will be decided during due course of further investigation.
