CHENNAI: A day after actor and
Congress spokesperson Khushbu Sundar tweeted photos of a container truck parked for more than 10 days at a street corner near her house in
Santhome, the Greater Chennai traffic police impounded the vehicle.
Khushbu shared photographs of the vehicle and wrote that the way it was parked illegally raised suspicion as it did not have a registration number. Responding to the complaint, the traffic police also asked the actor-politician to download the GCTP citizen services application. The app was launched earlier this month for the general public to report offences. Complainants can click photographs and upload them, besides tracking the complaint and the action taken.
On Saturday, Khushbu tweeted, "This container has been parked at the corner of our street for the last 10 days. Not even a single citizen around that has even bothered to check or complain. It raises suspicion as it does not even have a number plate. Urge Chennai police to kindly look into it immediately."
"Good afternoon madam, vehicle has been impounded and challan issued. May we urge you to download the GCTP Citizen Services App to report offences," the police responded. Khushbu thanked the police for the swift action and said she would download the app.
A senior police officer said the department has assigned a few personnel to handle their
Twitter handle. "Though we have an app for such complaints, we are also responding to complaints made on twitter and getting them resolved within 24 hours."
