L&T bags 1,320-MW power project order in Bihar New Delhi: Infrastructure company, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), on Monday said its power arm procured a mega engineering, procurement and construction order from SJVN Thermal to set up a 1,320-MW (megawatt) ultra-supercritical power plant in Bihar’s Buxar district.

SJVN Thermal is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN, a joint-venture of Government of India and Government of Himachal Pradesh and also a Mini Ratna public sector undertaking.

“With a majority of the equipment including boilers, turbines, generators, etc, being made locally in our manufacturing facilities at Hazira, this project will also go a long way in accomplishing the ‘Make in India’ initiative promoted by our Prime Minister,” said Shailendra Roy, chief executive officer and managing director, L&T Power, and whole-time director of L&T.

The scope of work for L&T includes design, engineering, manufacturing, procurement, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of Buxar Thermal Power Project on turnkey basis.

The foundation stone of the plant was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March this year.
