A modern milk parlour established by Aavin here was inaugurated by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami through video conference from Chennai on Monday.
Set up on an area measuring 1,000 square feet within the milk chilling plant premises opposite to the State Transport Corporation depot along the Tiruchi - Chennai national highway, the modern milk parlour would sell milk, curd, ghee, 'palkhova', badam mix, butter and chocolate. An ice cream parlour and play material for children has been attached to the modern parlour that has been set up at a cost of ₹53 lakh. Collector V. Santha kick-started the sale at the parlour after its inauguration, an official release said.
Fishing Harbour
The inauguration of the renovated Mallipattinam Fishing Harbour by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palanisamy through video conferencing, was marred by a sudden protest by a group of fishermen at Mallipattinam on Monday.
The protesters, led by the State general secretary, Tamil Nadu Fishermen Forum, Thajudheen boycotted the inaugural function, organised through video conferencing from Chennai, and staged a demonstration stating that their prime demand of construction of a groynes at the harbour had not been fulfilled.
However, they were pacified by the Peravurani MLA, M.Govindarasu who assured them that their demand would be brought to the notice of the government and necessary steps would be initiated to fulfil their demand. Later the fishermen took part in the inaugural function.
Classrooms
The Chief Minister declared open the additional classrooms for the Government Arts Colleges in Karur and Kulithalai through video conference.
They were constructed at a cost of ₹6.21 crore.
While ₹3.56 crore was spent on constructing 16 additional classrooms and three laboratories at Government Arts College in Karur, 10 additional classrooms and three laboratories were constructed at the Government Arts College in Kulithalai.
Soon after the inauguration, Collector T. Anbalagan visited the colleges and met the Principals, teaching and non-teaching faculty members and students.
The Collector said the new facilities that were inaugurated would help the students to a great extent.
