MLA Harish Rao’s initiative sees 46 students being presented cash award of ₹25,000 each

Patting 46 meritorious students for their performance in the class 10 exams, MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao handed cash award of ₹25,000 to each of them at a function on Saturday evening. Interestingly, the political leader had his NRI friends chipping in to extend assistance to the young achievers.

“You have achieved excellent results and that is something great. As many as 219 government schools in the district were able to achieve 100% results in the class 10 exams and I congratulate the teachers for this. We are extending cash award of ₹25,000 to each student who scored 10 Grade Point Average (GPA). Next year, we wish to extend the award to 100 students,” said Mr. Harish Rao, addressing the students.

The MLA said the district has moved up from the third place to second and the aim is to be at No.1 position next year.

“Bring the poor students to the top,” he urged the government teachers.

Mr. Harish Rao has entrusted the responsibility of achieving desired results to Zilla Parishad chairperson V. Roja Sharma, who was recently elected after resigning from her teacher post.

‘Ready to assist more’

T. Aravind, an NRI who attended the event, said, “We are happy to be part of this programme and were able to felicitate 46 students this year. We are ready to extend assistance to as many students achieving 10 GPA as possible.”

Raj Bhavani, another NRI who participated in the programme, told the students, “This is not a cash award being presented to you. Rather, it is a vision being shown to you by Mr Harish Rao. You are lucky to have a leader like him. I have never attended such a meeting in my 20 years of stay in the US.”

NRIs Purnachandar, Jagan, Bhaskar, Dhanumjay Reddy and Rajanikanth participated in the programme.

On the occasion, Vijaya Saradhi of Telangana Integrated Civil Services Academy also came forward to offer five-year integrated residential civil services coaching free of cost to the meritorious students.

The programme concluded with Mr. Harish Rao having dinner with the students, parents and teachers.
