CHENNAI: With Tamil Nadu reeling under a severe drinking water crisis, opposition leader and DMK president M K Stalin on Monday warned that the ruling AIADMK would be outed without an election.
"The water crisis was looming over the state for a long time and DMK had sufficiently warned the state government about such an impending crisis. But, neither the chief minister nor the deputy chief minister were bothered about it," said Stalin, addressing a protest in Chennai.

"Schools and private institutions are struggling to function due to lack of water. But, the government is warning schools of punitive action if they declare holidays. The water crisis is severe and women have come to the roads demanding water. But, the state government has done very little. Even now, ministers and AIADMK leaders are conducting Yaagams in temples across the state, only to safeguard their powers and positions," Stalin charged.
Referring to the 'no-confidence' notice, moved by the DMK against the state assembly speaker, Stalin said the chief minister fears that it will lead to a stage, where he will end up losing power. "This government will go without even the need for an election. Once, DMK comes to power it will initiate action against all those involved in irregularities that delayed the setting up of the third desalination plant near Chennai," Stalin said.
