FALL RIVER -- Police are asking for the public’s help identifying several people who may have information about a June 15 shooting on Rock Street.

According to Fall River Police spokesman Sgt. J.T. Hoar, officers received a report of a possible stabbing on Rock Street about 8:45 that Saturday evening.

When officers arrived, they did not find a stabbing victim and initially logged the report as unfounded, he said.

But more recently, police got a hold of surveillance footage shot by a home security system. Hoar said the video “clearly shows the reaction of shots being fired” near the corner of Walnut and Rock streets.

In the video, a light colored sedan is seen stopping at the intersection, then someone appears to open the car’s trunk. Three people are then seen running away from the intersection headed west.

A fourth person is seen running toward the others, then a group of three people doubled back toward Rock street and got into the light colored sedan.

Hoar said investigators believe an argument that evening may have escalated into shots being fired. Police have not yet located a victim or any weapons.

Investigators hope to identify and question the people captured on video, and so far have not named a suspect responsible for the shooting, according to Hoar.

“Were just interested to speak to these individuals, we don't know who had the gun,” said Hoar.

Those with information about those shown in the video circulated by Fall River Police are urged to call Detective Luis Vertentes at 508-676-8511, extension 260. Tips can be submitted via Facebook Messenger and be phoned in anonymously by calling 508-672-TIPS.
