Hundreds of devotees witnessed the ‘mahakumbabhisekam,’ of Panchavatee Jayamangala Panchamukha Sri Anjaneyasamy temple in Vanur taluk of Villupuram district on Sunday morning.

Priests performed special pujas, starting at 5 a.m before pouring the holy water on the rajagopuram and vimanams between 9 a.m and 10. 30 a.m. Preliminary rituals before the consecration began on June 17. Special homams, music programme, spiritual drama and dance were held during the last seven days.

Later, special pujas were performed for the main and other deities in the temple. The temple was spruced up for the holy ceremony, which took place after 12 years.

The traffic police had a tough time regulating vehicle movement on the Puducherry-Tindivanam route.
