District Monitoring Officer and Principal Secretary to Government of Commercial Taxes and Registration Department Ka. Balachandran has asked officials to complete the drinking water scheme works in two days.
Chairing a meeting at the Collectorate here on Saturday, he said that the Corporation was sanctioned ₹ 2.67 crore to drill 22 borewells and to carry out repair works to three borewells.
“If needed, water should be supplied through lorries to the residents”, he added.
He asked officials of Sathyamangalam, Bhavani, Gobichettipalayam and Punjai Puliyampatti municipalities to ensure that water supply to the people are not interrupted.
The district has 42 town panchayats with 630 wards and 51,084 water service connections and regular water supply should be ensured, he said.
He said that there are 14 Panchayat Unions with 225 village panchayats and 3,199 villages in the district and the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, through 41 combined water supply scheme, supplies water to 193 panchayats and 2,787 villages.
“Officials have been asked to inspect the villages and ensure water is supplied without disruption”, he said. He said that scheme works to the tune of ₹ 2 crore is being carried out in panchayat unions and asked officials to complete it within two days.
District Revenue Officer S. Kavitha, Project Director of DRDA M. Balaganesh, Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan and officials from various departments participated.
