VADODARA: After a long wait, Barodians received much-awaited relief on Saturday evening as major parts of the city witnessed heavy rains.
The sky remained overcast since last couple of days but rains were eluding it.
Mercury levels had already gone down on Saturday when the city registered its lowest
maximum temperature of the decade in the month of June.
The maximum temperature that the city registered was 39.1 degrees, three degrees departure from normal. The lowest maximum temperature that the city had registered in the month of June in the last decade was on June 13, 2012 when it had recorded 39.8 degrees.

Interestingly, it seemed as it, rains took turn before turning the entire city wet. While areas like Manjalpur, Makarpura and walled city were the first one to witness the spell of showers, areas adjoining Old Padra Road received the showers late.
Power supply also got affected in some areas of the city like Gotri while a tree got uprooted near Shree Mahavira Jain Vidyalaya on R V Desai Road due to winds that preluded rains.
Before Vadodara, neighbouring districts like Panchmahals and Dahod had already witnessed heavy rains coupled with winds.
