JIND: Six days week after a businessman was robbed of Rs 1.5 lakh here on June 16, police claimed to have
cracked the case.
Police arrested two men, seized a pistol and a motorcycle used in the crime, and recovered Rs 25,000 which had allegedly been robbed by Sarthak (21) and Ravi (20), both natives of Jind.
The businessman was returning to Rohtak after collecting a payment on June 16 when he was robbed.
Jind deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Dharmbir Singh and CIA incharge Virender Kharb said the duo waylaid the victim near Rani Talab of Jind, fired a gunshot in his right leg, and snatched a bag containingthe money.
A third accused, Aashu, is yet to be arrested.
DSP said Ravi had informed Aashu and Sarthak about the businessman travelling in an e-rickshaw to the bus stand. "Sarthak and Aashu followed the victim, who was travelling in an e-rickshaw. When a girl signalled the e-rickshaw to stop, Sarthak fired at the victim and snatched the bag,” he said.
The accused were produced in court and remanded in two-day police custody.
