Unfazed by a series of poll debacle in the last six months, the Congress party leadership is gearing up for the ensuing municipal elections in big way.
The core committee of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), which met here on Sunday, reviewed preparations for the municipal elections in Telangana State.
The meeting chaired by TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy decided that the party would seriously fight the municipal polls. Mr. Reddy demanded that the State government reserve 34 % of the seats for the backward classes, including Muslims (BC-E), as per the law.

The DCCs have been asked to furnish the full list of the office bearers so that more leaders could be inducted wherever the full body is not constituted.
Sitting MLAs or contested candidates would be the in charges for 119 Assembly constituencies. In cases, where in-charges had left the party, new leaders will be appointed as in-charge. Similarly, in-charges will be soon appointed for 140 municipalities in the State. The DCCs were directed to apply for land for the party offices in their respective districts. The TPCC chief said that indiscipline in the party would not be tolerated any further.
