Huge crowd turned up at the Kasimedu fishing harbour to purchase fresh catch. Fishermen ventured into the sea after the 60 day fishing ban ended on June 15.. During the ban, mechanised boats fishermen do not to venture into the sea to avoid disturbance caused by trawlers to marine life during the breeding season.
