Rajkot: Two thieves were arrested from Dhobana village of Bhuj taluka in Kutch district and Jetpur in Rajkot district on Sunday. Police said both Sattaul Sama (28) and Dharmesh Makwana (20), were wanted in ginning mill and cellphone thefts.
Sattaul used to target ginning mills in Jasdan and Atkot. Sattaul would drive his SUV and along with his five aides, Rasheed Sama, Mulak Sama, Jakaria Sama, Mamad Sama and Bilal Sama, would steal from ginning mills on the highway.
“On March 6, Sattaul and his gang members broke into Somnath and Khushi ginning mills on Jasdan-Atkot Highway and stole Rs 18.15 lakh in cash. On May 17, they targeted M M Ginning Mill and Ramdev Cotton Mill and stole Rs 12,000. We traced the accused on basis of CCTV footage in which Sattaul was caught,” said M N Rana, inspector with Rajkot rural local crime branch.
The second accused, Makwana, who was arrested for cellphone thefts, broke into seven factories in Navagadh locality of Jetpur 10 days ago and stole nine cellphones. “We received a tip-off that Makwana would come to sell off the phones and kept a watch and arrested him,” said Rana.
