TRB’s first computer-based test marred by server issues

CHENNAI: The first-ever online based-computer test conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) on Sunday was marred by server issues. The exam was delayed in various places and it was postponed at a few centres.
The TRB has announced that it would conduct re-exam for the candidates who were not able to appear for the exam and for the candidates who were not able to finish it.
Information about the re-exam date and time would be sent through SMS to the candidates, the TRB announced.
The board would select 816 computer instructors for government schools in Tamil Nadu based on this test.
At a centre in Tiruchengode in Namakkal district, the exam could not be started due to technical issues. “Officials assured us that exam would be conducted in the afternoon but when we returned in the afternoon, the officials said due to the technical issues the exam in this centre has been postponed,” a candidate said.
In Sivaganga district, many candidates were left out of the list.
However, candidates in Chennai and Kancheepuram, Vellore and few other districts said the conduct of the exam was smooth.
“The exam was conducted smoothly in 18 districts out of 26 districts. In eight districts, we faced issues,” a TRB official said.

“As on Sunday afternoon, nearly 25,000 out of 30,000 candidates finished their exams successfully,” the official said.
Candidates said the exams was tough. “Many questions were twisted and tough. But, we did not face any technical issues,” said a candidate who appeared for the exam in Chennai.
