NAGPUR: The city
police hospital at its Katol Road-based headquarters now has new cancer section attached to it. The unit, named as ‘cancer clinic’, was inaugurated by police commissioner BK Upadhyay and senior nurse at the hospital Usha Borkar.
The city police hospital, which had been in a dilapidated condition, had got a major facelift in 2016 and 2017 during the regime of the then police chief K Venkatesham. The hospital was equipped with more beds and several specialists were also enrolled on its panel. It was converted into a mini-hospital from merely a clinic around two years ago.
The latest addition of
cancer clinic would bring the benefits of preliminary checking and consultation of the disease at the police hospital which is accessed by substantial number of families residing at the residential quarters within the police headquarters.
Apart from Upadhyay, several other senior officials including Joint CP Ravindra Kadam were present. Senior police inspectors and around 200 police personnel too were present at the inaugural function.
Dr Kush Jhunjhunwala, president of
Indian Medical Association, senior oncologists Dr Ajay Mehta and Dr Mangesh Patil too were present at the programme. Dr Sandeep Shinde, chief medical officer of the police hospital, conducted the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
