The octogenarian from Mysuru had called BJP office in Delhi on Saturday

The hoax bomb threat to the BJP headquarters in Delhi on Saturday has been traced to a call made by an octogenarian psychiatric patient from Mysuru.

Soon after the Delhi police informed the Mysuru city police, they identified the caller as Sugandaraj from Siddhartha Layout.

“He is an elderly person aged between 80 and 85. He is not only visually challenged and hearing impaired, but also mentally unsound. He is undergoing psychiatric treatment,” M. Muthuraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Law and Order), Mysuru, told The Hindu.

On several occasions earlier, he has called government offices and verbally abused the person answering the call. According to his children and grandchildren, he makes a note of telephone numbers of prominent offices whenever he comes across them and makes the call, Mr. Muthuraj said.

Medical exam

The police subjected the caller to a medical examination and verified his mental condition. The Delhi police have been informed about the caller’s condition. He was later handed over to the relatives.
