PUNE: The police arrested a woman and her paramour on Saturday for beating her husband to death during the early hours on June 20.
The Hadapsar police had registered a case of murder against unidentified persons for killing a security guard. The case was filed after his body was found near the canal at Ganganagar in Phursungi. The deceased was identified as Prakash Vilayatkar (45) of Phursungi.
A team comprising senior inspector Raghunath Jadhav and inspector Shivaji Shinde started investigations. After initial probe, they realized that Vilayatkar’s wife, Sarita (34), was acting suspiciously. It was also revealed that Sarita was in an illicit relationship with Tarkesh Tanaji Randhir (25).

The duo came into contact when Vilayatkar started thrashing Sarita on suspicion of infidelity. “The duo developed a bond after regularly meeting when Vilayatkar was not at home and hatched a plot to kill him. On Thursday, they thrashed Vilayatkar and hit him with a blunt object. After he died, they dumped his body near the canal,” Jadhav said.
Sarita and Vilayatkar lived in Phursungi with their daughter. “Their daughter was at home when Vilayatkar was murdered. However, where he was murdered is unknown,” Jadhav added.
