PUNE: A man throttled his cousin to death in a fit of rage on Saturday evening after the latter slapped their grandmother at Dalvinagar in
Chinchwad.
The Chinchwad police identified the deceased woman as Hrutuja Vicky Wagh (18) and arrested her cousin, Santosh Rohidas Bhondwe (25), of Dalvinagar in Chinchwad.
According to the Chinchwad police, Hrutuja had moved into the house of her grandmother, Vithabai Bhondwe (70), about a month ago. She had a tiff with her grandmother on Saturday and Vithabai asked her to leave her home immediately.
The police said Hrutuja was enraged with her grandmother over the “leave-home” directive and slapped her. Her cousin, Santosh, entered the house when Vithabai was crying.
After Vithabai narrated the entire, Santosh started beating up Hrutuja. When Vithabai and Santosh’s mother, Chaya (40), intervened and told Santosh to excuse Hrutuja, Santosh asked them to go out of the house. Vithabai and Chaya came out thinking Santosh would tell Hrutuja to behave properly. But Santosh continued to beat her up. He then picked up a rope from the house and strangulated Hrutuja to death, the police said.
