PUNE: Applicants appearing for permanent
driving licence
test for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers may now have to pay Rs 100 more for using the track at the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) here.
The new
charges are expected to come into force from June 24. However, officials at the Pune regional transport office (RTO) are negotiating with senior officials of IDTR to ensure that there is no change in the applicable fees.
“At present, Rs100 is charged from a person intending to appear for
driving licence tests for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. The amount is taken as a charge for the track used. Now, it has been decided that if a person wants to appear for tests for both two-wheelers as well as four-wheelers, a sum of Rs200 will be charged. There are quite a few who go for both the licences as it means less hassle for them,” a source pointed out.
Generally, tests for two-wheeler licence are conducted at the RTO’s Alandi Road facility. Deputy RTO Sarage Vinod said that talks were on with the senior officials at the facility. “The director of the facility is currently on leave,” he said.
At present, close to 250 people turn up at the IDTR for driving tests every day. “People mainly come for driving licence test for four-wheelers. However, there are many who come for licences for both two-wheelers and four wheelers,” another official pointed out.
