BELAGAVI: A regular
flight service between
Belagavi and Mumbai by
SpiceJet under the Udan scheme was launched at the
Sambra Airport here on Thursday. The flight will operate in the Bengaluru- Belagavi- Mumbai- sector. Regular flights to Mumbai was a long-pending demand of city residents.
Airport authorities held an event commemorating the commencement of the new flight by cutting a cake and distributing sweets.

Abhay Patil inaugurated the 90-seater flight by cutting a ribbon and handling over boarding passes to passengers in the presence of airport director Rajesh Kumar Maurya, Naval Kishor, regional manager (South), SpiceJet and Niyaz Shirhatti, station manager, Spice Jet.
Patil said regular air service to Mumbai helps businessmen of Belagavi to extend their ventures. “We are also trying to get a flight service to Delhi,” he said.
With the launch of the Mumbai flight, eight daily flights are now operating from Belagavi. Four flights operate to Bengaluru and one each to Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.
