MUMBAI: A senior ticket checker with the Central Railway was arrested on Thursday for allegedly molesting a 17-year-old girl at
Chembur station.
The incident was reported around 5.30pm. The girl, a college student, was meeting her friends at the station. After a while, she was about to head back home when the accused, Santosh Dhumale (45), asked her to produce a ticket. He then allegedly touched her inappropriately and also hit her on the head.
"The girl and her father approached us to lodge a complaint. We immediately went to the station and took Dhumale into custody. He will be produced before a sessions court. We will inform his superiors in CR of his arrest on Friday," said Rajendra Pal, senior inspector of
Wadala GRP. Dhumale was booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and under section 354 of IPC for outraging a woman's modesty.
