A sub-inspector of police attached to Chinna Salem police station in Villupuram district has been transferred to the Armed Reserve after a video showing him allegedly assaulting a complainant at the station went viral on Tuesday.
In the video, the sub-inspector is seen questioning the complainant and slapping him.
Police personnel can be seen around who stood and watched as the sub-inspector used foul language against the complainant and slapped him. After initial investigation, Superintendent of Police S. Jayakumar ordered an inquiry and transferred Shanmugam to the Armed Reserve.
