One more arrested in Viju Mohod murder case

Nagpur: One Nikhil Tidke was arrested by crime branch on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in Vijay Mohod murder case. The cops had produced Tidke before the court on Thursday. The court has remanded Tidke to the custody of crime branch till June 23.
Mohod was killed on May 16 by Ahaby Raut, Tidke, Suraj Karlawar and others following a dispute over gambling. The rivals had kidnapped Mohod from a Saoji eatery before stabbing him to death following a spat in the moving car which was driven by Karlawar. Raut and Karlawar were arrested earlier. They too are in remand till June 23.
Mohod, having two murders cases against him in the past, was killed over rivalry to operate gambling den at Kharsoli. It’s learnt that Mohod already had a gambling den operating at Dhamna. He was trying to ensure Raut was forced to take him as partner at Kharsoli which led to the dispute.

API Kiran Choughule of crime branch, who is also the investigation officer in the case, said the CCTV footage of the eatery would be soon referred for more evidences following which more arrests are likely. “We are trying to gather as much evidence as possible before making further arrests,” he said.
The senior officers of the crime branch have also indicated that stringent provision is set to be invoked in the case.
