Man kidnaps married woman, says she is his daughter

SURAT: Katargam police arrested a man from Banaskantha for allegedly kidnapping a 28-year-old married woman claiming that she was his daughter who had gone missing 10 years ago.
Keshu Velji, a native of Babri in Banaskantha, came to the city in a hired SUV and went to the woman Lakshmi’s house in Katargam. Sensing that Velji had kidnapped the woman, the driver dropped them in Amroli and fled. Meanwhile, Lakshmi’s husband Rakesh Rawal lodged a complaint and police launched a hunt for them. Velji was nabbed in Amroli, while the driver was caught on the highway near Bharuch. He narrated the details of the incident to the police.

Meanwhile, Velji told police that Lakshmi was his daughter Geeta who had gone missing 10 years ago and he traced her in the city with help of some known person Habib who lives in city. However, Lakshmi told police that she is from Jalore in Rajasthan and not Keshu’s daughter. Police have called parents of the woman from Rajasthan and started investigation.
Keshu currently lives in Rajkot and works as a labourer.
