More funds for college in name of Yogi Adityanath’s guru

LUCKNOW: Gorakhpur will soon get a college in the name of UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s guru, Mahant Avaidyanath, who was also a four-time MP from the city. The cabinet on Tuesday approved a budget of Rs 30.34 crore for setting up the college.
Government spokesperson Sidharth Nath Singh said the proposal had earlier been estimated at Rs 10.78 crore but various additions were made, like a hostel, multi-purpose hall and an auditorium. “The project had been cleared but it came back to cabinet with a revised budget estimate. The new estimate has been cleared by the cabinet,” he said.
Avaidyanath was the head of Gorakhnath Math and was succeeded by Yogi Adityanath. He was also elected as MLA from Maniram assembly seat five times. He passed away in 2014.
The government also approved additional budget for setting up a zoo in Gorakhpur, dedicated to freedom fighter Ashfaqullah Khan. The total budget for the project, conceptualised in 2008-09 under the Mayawati government, is Rs 181.82 crore. “Due to addition of facilities like theatre, video-conferencing facility, the budget has increased by Rs 9.75 crore,” said government spokesperson Shrikant Sharma. UP has only two zoological parks: in Lucknow and Kanpur.
The cabinet also cleared the target of planting 22 crore saplings across the state.

It also approved the establishment of Uttar Pradesh Education Service Tribunal for resolution of service matter disputes of school teachers and employees. The tribunal will have a chairman, one vice-chairman (judicial, one vice-chairman (administrative) besides other members.
The cabinet also gave its nod for the monsoon session of Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad from July 18. The last session was held on February 28, 2019.
