Gang offers sweet deal, dupes bizman

LUCKNOW: A gang of conmen duping businessmen by offering lucrative business deals struck again in the city and targeted a consultancy firm owner in Gomtinagar. The gang had tricked two city traders till now.
In the latest incident, the gang approached a businessman, Manoj Gupta, who runs a consultancy firm from an office in Cyber Heights, and struck a deal for a joint venture and duped him of Rs 5 lakh.
In his complaint, Gupta told the police that four persons approached him in June first week and offered to start a joint venture of herbal medicines. "They came with a scheme promising to provide all equipment for the set up at very cheap rates. In all, I paid Rs 5 lakh to them on June 10," he said.
"They got the cheques encashed but did not deliver equipment till June 12. When I inquired, they gave me bills of equipment dated June 17, but they all proved to be fake," said Gupta.
Station house officer of Vibhutikahnd police station Rajeev Dwivedi said a case has been registered against the gang.

The gang had earlier duped two traders of Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh.
So far, three cases have been registered against the gang at Vibhutikhand police station.
