GURUGRAM: A two-year-old female
leopard died due to electrocution in
Mandawar village near
Gurugram on Thursday morning.
Panic gripped the villagers when they found the leopard hanging from high-tension wires entangled over a tree around 8am. Locals informed the forest department.
The forest department officials reached the spot at 9am and the carcass was taken for post mortem examination.
“It is so unfortunate that lineman didn’t lop such a life-threatening tree. In such cases, permission is always given by the forest department. However, the department’s permission was not sought,” said a senior
wildlife official. He added that the reason for the death was clearly electrocution, but a detailed report will be released soon.
