A 22-year-old security guard at a star hotel was crushed to death on Tuesday after a heavy iron gate fell on him.
“The deceased, Nigam Kumar Rajak, hailed from West Bengal. He had joined a security consultancy firm who had deputed him to Royal Lotus View Hotel at Tharabanahalli a few days ago,” said a police officer.
The incident took place around 2.30 p.m. The newly installed gate was allegedly not fixed properly. “When Rajak opened the gate, it fell on him,” the officer added.
A few hotel staff and drivers working nearby took him to a private hospital where he was declared as brought dead. Based on a complaint by an official from the security agency, the Chikkajala police have taken up a case of criminal negligence against the welder and the hotel management for endangering life or personal safety of others.
”We have summoned the fabricator for questioning,” a senior police officer said.
