Hello and welcome to the live blog of Match 26 of the ICC World Cup 2019 and today's fixture will be played between Australia and Bangladesh. On paper, Australia certainly enter the contest as firm favourites but the fine form that Bangladesh are in, giving most sides a run for their money, it is not going to be easy for the Aussies.

14:39 (IST)

PLAYING XI:

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim(w), Liton Das, Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza(c), Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman

Australia: David Warner, Aaron Finch(c), Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey(w), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa

14:39 (IST)

Captain's Speak:

Aaron Finch: We are gonna bat first, looks a really good surface. I think we have played well in patches. There have been times we haven't got it right. Still excited to be in this position. Stoinis comes back in the team. We get through the middle overs nicely.

Mashrafe Mortaza: It's a good wicket, you never know. We are chasing very well in the last few matches. My knees are alright, trying hard, let's see. The boys are confident after that last match.

TOSS: Stop the press, Aaron Finch has won a toss and Australia elect to bat first.  Three changes for Australia, with Stoinis, Zampa and Nathan Coulter-Nile are into the side in place of Kane Richardson, Shaun Marsh and Jason Behrendorff.

Bangladesh have two forced changes. Saifuddin has hurt his back and is replaced with Rubel Hossain. Sabbir Rahman comes in for the injured Mosaddek Hossain.

14:24 (IST)

The other big question with regards to the Australian camp is the fitness of Marcus Stoinis. The all-rounder has been on the sidelines due to a side strain for the past two weeks and his absence has caused a huge dent in Australia's team balance. It has forced them to go without a frontline spinner with Glenn Maxwell and at times even Aaron Finch doing the fifth bowler's job. While Maxwell has so far done a fair job of it, Stoinis getting fit will be critical as that will allow Australia to play either of Adam Zampa or Nathan Lyon.

14:18 (IST)

A few minutes to go before the toss, an area which has become a thorn in Aaron Finch's flesh. After losing his seventh straight coin flip to Sri Lanka last time around, Finch is now a fifty-fifty chance of equalling Allan Border's record for the worst ODI toss losing streak by an Australian captain. He was also sledged by Brad Haddin's son Zachary about his run of toss losses while Alex Carey said that he might deputise Finch at the coin toss when Australia face Bangladesh later in the day. Well,  Finch will hope it does not come down to it and Australia finally manage to win a toss.

14:03 (IST)
13:59 (IST)

Mortaza though insisted that Bangladesh was not a one-man army by any stretch of the imagination. "I won't say Bangladesh is a one-man army," Mashrafe said. "Shakib is scoring runs; that's a great thing for the team. But if you look at it, the other boys have stepped up too. Mustafiz, as I said, took two wickets in the last match. If Saifuddin didn't take that early wicket, everyone knows what Chris Gayle can do. We have had Tamim and Soumya starting well. Mushfiqur is batting well. Mehidy is bowling well."

13:55 (IST)

Australia, despite their overwhelming 18-1 record against Bangladesh know they are one side which cannot be taken lightly. The one they are genuinely wary of is Shakib Al Hasan. The all-rounder is certainly in the form of his life. He is the highest run-scorer so far in the tournament with 384 runs from fours matches which includes two fifties and two hundreds and has also picked up five wickets. Australia also brought in Ashton Agar to their training session in a bid to tackle Shakib. Talk about being in the head!

13:45 (IST)

Bangladesh have certainly managed to raise their game this tournament. They started off their 2019 campaign with a solid win over South Africa, gave New Zealand a mighty scare defending only 244, lost to England and then chased down 321 against West Indies by seven wickets with as many as 51 balls to spare. They are currently placed fifth on the points table with two wins, two losses and a washout.

13:34 (IST)

Captain Mortaza, who is the sole survivor of Bangladesh's famous over Australia win back in 2005 firmly believes his side has it in them to topple Australia.

"That night suddenly, (a) limousine was coming in front of the hotel and everyone was inside," the Bangladesh captain said on the eve of their World Cup clash with Australia. "I can remember everything we did in that particular day and night. I hope that the same day will be coming tomorrow, but for that we have to play hard and at our best.

"It's been a nice memory … Obviously Australia was very strong.

"(But the Bangladesh team) has been changed a lot. I know a few players are in our dressing room who believe we can beat anybody.

"I always believed that in the past, whatever we have done, it's not going to help tomorrow. It's a new day, it's a new match. You have to start from the first ball."

13:30 (IST)

While there have been enough calls for Bangladesh to meet Australia more often on the international circuit, the only way the Tigers can really prove to the world they are a side to reckon with will be if they can beat Australia. Such a result will be important from the tournament point of view as well. New Zealand, India, Australia and England are starting to increase the gap and if Australia once again beat Bangladesh today, it will become extremely tough for the other four teams to qualify for the semis.

13:15 (IST)

One thing that remains unchanged is the dearth of Australia vs Bangladesh contests. These two sides have faced each other in only 12 completed matches in the last 14 years since. Their previous two encounters, in 2017 Champions Trophy and 2015 World Cup, were both washed out due to rain. This means the last time Australia had faced Bangladesh in an ODI was way back in April 13, 2011 in Dhaka. Steve Smith is the only player from this Australian side who played that game all those years back.

13:11 (IST)

Tuesday (June 18) was a very special day for Mashrafe Mortaza. It was the 14th anniversary of probably Bangladesh's biggest day in their ODI history to date. On a cold Cardiff morning, Bangladesh had stunned an Australian side which included the likes of  Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke and Glenn McGrath by five wickets to properly announce their arrival on world stage. Much has changed since then. Bangladesh are no longer the mere pushovers they used to be and their wins over top ranked sides are no longer termed as upsets.

PREVIEW: Up until a few years back, an Australia v Bangladesh contest would have been termed a mismatch, a David v Goliath contest where the odds of David winning was minuscule at best. But a lot has changed over the past few years. Bangladesh are no longer the pushovers they used to be, coming into a contest to win hearts, and nothing more.

They started off their 2019 campaign with a solid win over South Africa, gave New Zealand a mighty scare defending only 244, lost to England and then chased down 321 against West Indies by seven wickets with as many as 51 balls to spare.

One of the biggest reasons behind Bangladesh's success so far this tournament has been the form of their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. He is the leading run scorer in the campaign with 384 runs in four innings and has also picked up five wickets at a good economy. While Shakib is undoubtedly the best player that Bangladesh has ever produced, to bring out performances with such consistency has surprised even his most ardent fans.

Having said that Australia are going to be a different kettle of fish for the Tigers. There is a reason why the head to head count in ODIs is 18:1 loaded in the favour of Australia. They have been meticulous so far in the competition with the only blip being against India. With four wins and one loss after five games, Australia are placed second on the points table and a win at Nottingham, in Trent Bridge will take them to the top of the pile and make their route to the semi-finals much easier.

The encouraging bit of news for them before the Bangladesh game is that Marcus Stoinis seems to have fully recovered after being on the sidelines for the last two weeks with a side strain. There is a fitness test that he still will have to go through but two days out from the clash, the all-rounder seemed to be in no trouble whatsoever be it batting or bowling. Australia Head coach Justin Langer too concurred with the above statement.

"We've been monitoring him," said the coach. "He's an elite athlete, he's an elite professional.

"He's determined, so it doesn't surprise me with where he's at now. It's a credit to him, it's a credit to the medical staff that are getting him up. So hopefully he can have a real impact on the tournament."

Nathan Coulter-Nile who had to miss the previous encounter against Sri Lanka due to soreness, too is available for selection against Bangladesh.

Stoinis' availability is more crucial as it helps Australia drop one of the four seamers from the side and include one of Adam Zampa or Nathan Lyon in the mix.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, will have to tighten their bowling against a rampant Australia top order. None of the bowlers so far have looked threatening for a period of time and the kind of form the likes of David Warner, Aaron Finch and Steve Smith have been, the Bangladeshis will have to maintain a strict channel else they will travel the distance.

Their batsmen though have been in good touch and will hope to continue their run against the Australian pacers.

This will be fifth and final game in Trent Bridge and the surface is looking a bit dry and expected to turn on first glance. There are a few thunderstorms predicted in Nottingham on Thursday but the game should largely remain unaffected by the rain.

Last Five ODIs

Australia: W W L W W

The defending champions have been in red hot form so far this tournament winning four of the last five games. They started off by brushing aside Afghanistan and West Indies, lost to India and then scored comfortable wins over Pakistan and Sri Lanka respectively.

Bangladesh: W NR L W L

Bangladesh have had a mixed competition so far. They started off with a convincing win over South Africa, lost to New Zealand and England, had their game against Sri Lanka washed and then walloped West Indies.

Players to watch out for:

David Warner: The opener started off the tournament slowly with two slow half-centuries, got his mojo back against Pakistan with a solid ton and having missed out against Sri Lanka will want to get back to his fluent scoring ways against Bangladesh. Warner is the fifth-highest scorer so far in the World Cup and will want to move significantly up on this chart post Thursday.

Shakib Al Hasan: It might have become tiring reading this name under the sub-heading but that's how this campaign has been for Shakib. The all-rounder has been a one-man army for Bangladesh. His scores so far in four innings read 75, 64, 121, 124*. He has looked at his absolute best all through and Bangladesh will desperately hope the same Shakib turns up against Australia as well.

Team News/Availability

Australia: With Stoinis and Coulter-Nile expected to be back to full fitness, Australia are likely to have there full 15 available for selection.

Bangladesh: There are a few niggles in the Bangladesh camp but none too serious that might force a player to sit out of the next game.

Squad:

Australia: Aaron Finch (c), Jason Behrendorff, Alex Carey (wk), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa

Bangladesh: Mashrafe Mortaza (C), Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan (VC), Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, Mohammad Mithun, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mosaddek Hossain, Abu Jayed
