THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The high-tech cradle of
Kerala State Council for Child Welfare received two babies, a girl and boy, this week. In view of the ongoing cricket world cup, the boy has been named after men's India team captain
Virat Kohli while the girl has been named after
Mithali the captain of women's team.
The cradle received a baby boy at 8pm on Saturday. The boy, who seems to be just three days old, weighs round 2.4kg. The girl was left on the cradle around 12.30pm on Tuesday. She weighs around 3.2kg and is around four days old.
KSCCW general secretary Deepak SP said that babies were named Virat and Mithali in view of the ongoing Cricket World Cup.
So far, cradle, inaugurated by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan in February this year, has received eight children.
Virat and Mithali are 267th and 268th children respectively received by the KSCCW cradle. Deepak said that if the babies have any relatives, they should contact KSCCW authorities immediately as they are taking steps for legal adoption of the kids.
