NOIDA: A former call centre employee was allegedly assaulted and framed in a fake theft case by a sub-inspector after he resigned from the company in Noida suspecting fraud.
Sahabuddin Siddiqui (26), who worked as an IT engineer since December 2018, submitted his resignation in March this year after he got to know that the “call centre cheats Americans on the pretext of fixing malware in their system due to hacking/virus, etc.”
Sahabuddin said that after his resignation, the company on May 14 lodged a bogus FIR at Phase III police station, alleging data theft and that customers were receiving fake calls. “On May 19, the company owner asked me to come and collect my laptop. I failed to turn up as I was in Delhi for treatment at that time. Later, I went to the office on May 21 when a sub-inspector came there and started questioning me. Then he slapped me 14 times. This went on till 11 pm,” he said.
CCTV footage of the incident shows SI Baljeet Singh slapping the victim. After the complainant wrote to the Gautam Budh Nagar SSP, IG (Meerut) and DIG on May 25, an inquiry was initiated. SSP Vaibhav Krishna said, “The SI in question is a dedicated officer. Action will be taken in case the allegations are found to be correct,” he said.

Singh said the complainant had been found to be involved in data theft at the company.
The complainant has approached the Allahabad high court for a stay on his arrest.
