The Kozhikode city chapter of the Kerala Police Association (KPA) organised a mini-marathon here on Monday in support of the awareness campaigns being organised by various government agencies and organisations against substance abuse.
Around 50 police personnel representing various stations within the city limits took part in the event, which was organised ahead of the KPA’s 36th district convention.
District Collector Seeram Sambasiva Rao flagged off the 10-km marathon from the Kozhikode corporation office in the morning. A. Umesh, Circle Inspector and district president of the Kerala Police Officers’ Association (KPOA), was also present. KPA district secretary G.S. Sreejish said the event was organised with the motto ‘Say no to drugs’ circulating the anti-drug campaign messages. Prizes for winners will be distributed during the KPA’s district convention that begins on June 20, he added.
Mr. Sreejish said the association would also organise a blood donation camp near the office of the District Police Chief (Kozhikode City) on Tuesday. Music therapist and former General Hospital superintendent T.P. Meharoofraj will open the camp in the presence of District Police Chief A.V. George, he added.
